Position Purpose

Area Directors (ADs) serve as local missionaries and trusted coaches to churches and communities. They help churches disciple men effectively and engage men in the broader community who are building Christ-centered lives in marriage, family, career, faith, and relationships. Through the use of proven tools, relational engagement, and coaching, Area Directors help churches and leaders move from event-based ministry to life-on-life discipleship efforts that change men and build the Kingdom.


Key Responsibilities

Church & Discipleship Engagement

  • Build deep, strategic relationships with partner churches committed to men's discipleship, with an emphasis on discipleship of younger men.
  • Partner with church leadership to implement and sustain the No Man Left Behind model.
  • Guide churches in developing sustainable discipleship strategies focused on Builders (ages 20-45).
  • Model and coach relational discipleship with emphasis on intergenerational connections.
  • Support key events that align with focused church partnerships and Builder engagement.
  • Help churches develop internal capacity for sustainable men's ministry.

Community Engagement

  • Identify and engage with community spaces where Builders (ages 20-45) naturally gather.
  • Start or facilitate discipleship groups in marketplace settings (coffee shops, workplaces, etc.).
  • Build strategic relationships with community leaders who influence Builders.
  • Create environments that foster natural mentoring relationships between seasoned men and builders.
  • Develop and support community initiatives that address builders' key life areas (career, marriage, family, faith).
  • Connect community-based ministry efforts back to partner churches for long-term discipleship.

Digital Engagement

  • Actively participate in organizational digital marketing initiatives.
  • Share impactful stories and insights through approved social media channels.
  • Contribute relevant content for blogs and digital platforms.
  • Utilize digital tools to maintain connections with builders and church partners.
  • Help church partners leverage digital platforms for men's ministry.

Ministry Partner Development

  • Build and sustain a financial partnership team through relationship-based fundraising.
  • Maintain regular communication with ministry partners (newsletters, thank-you notes, etc.).
  • Participate in annual fundraising efforts, including the End-of-Year Campaign.
  • Receive training and ongoing coaching in MPD.

Learning & Innovation

  • Dedicate time monthly to learning and applying Man in the Mirror tools and other relevant resources.
  • Embrace new ministry resources and innovations, avoiding overreliance on familiar tools.
  • Share feedback and field insights to help improve and shape future tools.

Team Participation & Reporting

  • Set annual goals aligned with national strategy.
  • Submit monthly updates on church engagement, discipleship, and support development.
  • Participate in required coaching calls, team meetings, and national gatherings.
  • Complete quarterly self-evaluations with your Regional Director, reviewing ministry progress and spiritual health.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of leadership in a church, ministry, nonprofit, or business setting.
  • Deep relationship with Jesus Christ and passion for discipling men.
  • Active membership in a local church with senior pastor support.
  • If married, a healthy and consistent relationship with spouse.
  • Agreement with Man in the Mirror’s Statement of Faith and Scriptural authority.

  • Active in discipling men and maintaining strong accountability relationships.

  • Able to present vision, lead discussions, and encourage growth through personal engagement.

Community Development

  • Skilled at identifying and developing gathering spaces.
  • Ability to create environments that facilitate natural mentoring relationships.
  • Experience in building bridges between different generational groups.

Digital Fluency & Engagement

  • Comfortable with social media and digital communication platforms.
  • Ability to create and share engaging content that resonates with builders.
  • Understanding of how to leverage digital tools for ministry impact.

Strategic Thinking & Self-Management

  • Results-oriented with the ability to set goals, manage time, and report outcomes.
  • Willing to adapt and learn new tools and strategies as ministry evolves.
  • Capacity to maintain deep engagement with core partners while managing broader relationships.
  • Ability to say "no" to good opportunities in service of better ones.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a remote team.

Technical & Administrative Proficiency

  • Familiarity with CRM tools, Microsoft Office, and online collaboration tools.
  • Timely with required reporting, documentation, and partner communication.

Work Environment & Commitments

  • Home-based office setup required (laptop, webcam, printer/scanner).
  • Flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends.
  • Local travel required; occasional national travel for events/training.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and insured vehicle.

Spiritual Expectations

  • Must sign and affirm the Man in the Mirror Statement of Faith, Guiding Principles, and required agreements.
  • Maintain a consistent, growing walk with Christ.
  • Actively participate in a local church and build Christian accountability relationships.
